You Are Amazing

It’s sunny outside

as the girl at the door

stands guard.

The people in the house

are busy,

they scurry

with boxes and books and bedding

from the house to the car

and the car to the house

back to the car, to the house, to the car

all afternoon

they transport their lives

from one place

to another.

Later, the sun setting,

the confrontation takes place

And then, with the number

for the police taped to the fridge,

the girl who stood guard

goes home.

Leaving the family

to reclaim their future.

The Bathtub

Woken by the night watchman

The Fear takes hold

It grips the intestines tightly

and twists.

There are no

right answers

and when the fists arrive they

are not unexpected.

The blood drips

making a stain on the wooden floorboards

in the shape of a heart.

Fury flies,

it fills the air with fever.

Dragged by the hair

the body is flung into the bathtub

the head

hits the tap and

stops.

Pip Squeak

The bitterness betrays you

soft

sweet

your taste that belongs only to you

is lost.

Skin so tempting

parting to reveal

delicate flesh

(and the bitterness underneath)

Juice that flows on my

tongue

and yet the betrayal to come

but still, the tenderness...
